The Star We Share

A Forced Proximity, Why Choose, Portal Magic Romance

The bad boy cursed me

The control freak collared me

The golden boy kissed me

And I’m here for all of it!

This book is a result of a project I did in my Patreon last year. Last November was “Let’s Write a Book Together’ month and that’s what we did! They chose the trope (Why Choose) the spice level (Fairly high) and the number of men in the harem. They also chose the urban-fantasy-ish setting and the gods and goddesses secondary trope.

I am not typically one of those people who likes to share chapters as they write because my books change a lot over the course of writing them. I would not say I write complete seconds drafts – like ever – but the twists in my books involve some finesse. Ya gotta get all those continuity threads lined up in just the right way or the plot falls apart. So I would say that the rough draft and the final draft are mostly the same book, but without all the cool shit that really makes the twists pop.

But I did upload these chapters as I wrote and everyone in the Patreon got to read them. I don’t actually remember how much of it I changed between writing it and sending it to narrators, but a fair bit did.

It’s not my favorite process, I have to be honest. I am not a communal writer. I don’t sit in coffee shops and find quirky stories in the people around me. I don’t really ask for advice when it comes to writing or plotting. The story is just the story. It comes to me and that’s the end of it. And I was afraid that I’d lose that during this process, but it wasn’t the case. The muse was there. it delivered. I would say it delivered on a micr-scale compared to a book like Sparktopia or Godslayer, but it showed up.

So this is just a book about four people romping their way through a sex-maze adventure! It’s a standalone book with room to grow if another story comes to me.

Also, a very special thanks to my Patreon supporters! you guys are THE BEST! Thanks for your patience this year as I moved across the country. I’ll be having a Patreons ONLY 12 Days of Giveaways this year for you guys to say thank you!

Enjoy!

Julie

I woke up in jail with three men fighting over who gets to claim me—and none of them are even human. Number One is a leather-clad demigod with a belt that does more than hold up his jeans. Number Two is a rogue secret agent with a habit of giving orders like he expects to be obeyed. Number Three is a flirty charmer who’s convinced I’m his soulmate.

Apparently, I’m part of some ancient prophecy—the missing piece in a divine war. The gods want me back, the Titans want me gone, and these three lunatics are stuck with me in a death-trap labyrinth. To escape, we’ll need to unlock our shared powers. Together.

THE STAR WE SHARE is a high-heat, fast-burn why-choose romance where Greek gods meet modern spice. Expect sharp banter, mythic danger, and a maze full of magic, mayhem, and multiple happily-ever-afters.

Inside the pages you’ll find:

Why Choose
Enemies to Lovers
Fated Mates
Hidden Identity
Forced Proximity
Touch Her and Die
Ancient Gods and Goddesses
Quest/Labyrinth Adventure
Power Dynamics
Fantasy Spice
Found Family
Cursed Artifacts

EXCERPT

And just as he says that, Declan starts laughing. “I did it! I got the first kiss! She’s mine now! Rules are rules!”
“Rules?” Quaid asks. He’s such a Mr. Nobody. He doesn’t even understand that in the world of demigods, the first kiss is the claim. “What the hell kind of game are you two playing?”
“Star,” I say, pulling her to her feet and shaking her a little. “Snap out of it! Look at me!” But while I’m saying this, I’m unbuckling my belt.
“Bro,” Quaid says, flicking a lighter on so he can see. “Did you just unbuckle your belt? What the hell is happening here? Have you two freaks lost your minds?”

Looking for your next trope-filled fantasy romance? Here’s the checklist for The Star We Share:

✓ One feisty FMC with amnesia and a secret identity? Check.

✓ Three hot, possessive demigods? A warrior, a charmer, and a control freak? Check.

✓ Forced proximity in a jail cell AND a deadly Labyrinth? Check.

✓ Fated mates and an ancient prophecy? Oh, check.

✓ “Touch her and you die” vibes from all three men? Triple check.

This isn’t just a story. It’s a high-heat, fast-burn adventure where the spice is just as important as the plot. If you love why-choose romance with a shot of mythology, you’ve found your next obsession.

HERE’S HOW TO ENTER!

LEAVE ME A COMMENT BELOW AND TELL ME HOW MUCH YOU LIKE – OR HATE!! – THE FATED MATES TROPE!

MY ANSWER…

I actually like fated mates. A lot. I don’t write many because fantasy and PNR, Sci-Fi romance – it’s always a side project for me so they don’t come up that often. But most of them – well, at least half of the fantasy/PNR/Sci-Fi romance books I write have some kind of fated mates in them. It’s a fun trope I think.

    Hi Julie,
I have always liked the Fated Mates trope because there always seems to be an over protective MMC, once he gets his sh*t together, of the FMC and there is almost always some sort of suspense or mystery involved in order for the two MC to finally be together.

I have actually in the last year stared listening to many books that have fated mate characters. I didn’t know how much I’d like them, but have found I really do love them.
I like that Julie is writing this type because her writing is so much more complex, exciting, erotic and real than most out there. She has an awesome mind and a way of writing that no one else can duplicate.
I’m really excited to be able to get it soon. Thanks Julie and the other that helped her with this one.

I really love fated mates, and it feels like you’ve written quite a few of them. Like, Clara and Tyse, and Finn and Jasina in Sparktopia feel like fated mates to me. Or all of the couples in the Harem Station series feel like they are fated mates. Or Pie and Pell? So many! Romantasy, fantasy are newer genres that I’ve been exploring the past couple of years but I am SO enjoying them!

I absolutely LOVE fated mates troupes. A lot of the books i read are related to fated mates and/or why choose. Why not live in a world where the Fates have found your “prefect match”, even if the match isn’t perfect, it’s the start of a relationship(s) that can be built upon (hopefully).

I like the fated mates trope so long as it isn’t used as a lazy way to churn out a book without adding any real story to it. So many books these days are just ‘tropes’ with no depth or character development.
Obviously, your books never fall into the ‘lazy writing’ camp. (And I would say that even if this wasn’t on a giveaway page)
With a well written fated mates story, I love seeing how the character’s interplay and finally end up happily together. I think most of us like to believe that fate has a big hand in who we end up with, so a cleverly written fated mates story is something that can resonate deeply.
On a side note. I really like ‘why choose’ stories. I fact, I think they’re my favourite. So I can’t wait to start reading The Star We Share. I’ve just bumped it straight to the top of my reading list.

I love it… but when there is a conflict over it, like, they are fated to be together but they hate each other. Or one hurt the other really badly and has to grovel to get forgiveness. The antagonistic time, the falling in love time, is my favorite part of a romance, so when the fated mates trope is used by some authors as a substitute to on-page relationship development, then it doesn’t work for me.

Game of Gods

GODSLAYER

Spark is light.
Spark is power.
Spark is deadly.

Tyse never asked to play the Game of Gods, but Delta demands loyalty.

With Clara at his side, Tyse is thrust into a brutal world of augments—humans forged to serve and destroy. Each step forward pushes them closer to becoming something more—a force Clara can feel but doesn’t fully understand. A future that terrifies her as much as it draws her in.

Day by day, the man Clara pledged her loyalty to becomes more and more a stranger. But in the Game of Gods, survival demands sacrifice.

Clara has already done that once—she’s certain she can do it again.

Jasina and Finn left Tau City in ruins, vowing to end the Extractions by destroying every god’s tower. But the train line hides dark truths. Forgotten people cling to survival. Towers rise from the ruins of erased cities. And deep in the shadows, a godlike AI watches, weaving its own agenda.

Jasina has always been the strong one, the leader. But the train line holds secrets that cut deeper than she’s prepared for. Truths about spark. About the gods. About herself.

And Finn—the man burdened by his failures—is rising to find his strength.

But can Jasina ever fully trust him?

Godslayer is an epic, spicy, and angst-filled Romantasy that begs the question … how well do you really know your God? And how much are you willing to sacrifice to save him?
