Welcome to my annual 12 DAYS OF GIVEAWAYS!

If you’re new to this – here’s how it works:

1.   Each day from December 1 through December 12 I will put up a new giveaway HERE on my website with instructions on how to enter, a detailed description of the prize, and some stuff about the book or series. Each giveaway is different and each has ONE WINNER. MY GIVEAWAYS ARE ALWAYS OPEN INTERNATIONAL

2.   Each giveaway runs UNTIL DECEMBER 13.

3.   Winners are CHOSEN and NOTIFIED on December 14. I will be notifying winners USING THE EMAIL USED TO COMMENT ON THIS BLOG – and all winners will BE LISTED AT THE TOP OF EACH GIVEAWAY POST HERE ON MY WEBSITE on December 14.

4.   Winners have 24 hours to respond, then another winner will be chosen.

5.   ALL PRIZES WILL BE MAILED ON DECEMBER 15.  If I’m waiting on a winner to respond and they miss the December 15 mail date, that prize will be mailed when I get around to it. I live in the middle of nowhere so a trip to the post office is a “thing” for me. 🙂 So make sure you’re checking for winners on the 14th.

6.   I will send newsletters announcing giveaways on December 1, December 6, December 12, and a Winner newsletter on December 14. I NEVER send this many newsletters in a month so sorry if that feels spammy.

7.   You can also FOLLOW MY BLOG. I will also make a blog post HERE announcing ALL WINNERS on the 14th. If you want to follow this blog there will be a form at the bottom of each post to do that. Then you get an email when I POST HERE. I don’t do that often – December is the exception because of the 12 Days and my yearly “Wrap-up” post.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.

THAT’S IT! I HOPE YOU ALL ENJOY THIS!

The world is INSANE right now so I’m just trying to spread some cheer and give back to all of you who support me and enjoy the stories I create.

DAY 7

IN EACH POST I WILL HIGHLIGHT A BOOK

TODAY’S BOOK HIGHLIGHT IS IN TO HER!

TODAY’S GIVEAWAY IS AN ANGST-Y DARK EROTIC ROMANCE WITH AN UNEXPECTED ENDING.

When AJ and Logan walked into Yvette Nightingale’s bar they didn’t expect to be there long. They certainly didn’t expect to be dancing with her, or having sex with her, or spending the night with her after getting snowed in at her mountain top bar.

Because they were sent there to kill her.

Not fall for her.

Not feel sorry for her.

Not want to take care of her, or protect her, or be in to her.

But sometimes people enter your life for a reason. Sometimes they even enter at the very moment you need them most. And Yvette Nightingale needs AJ and Logan.

She needs them even more than they need her.

In To Her is 320 pages of dirty smut, fantasy scenes with erotic toys, MFM and MMF ménage, and an angst-y HEA that will leave you guessing until the very last page. (This is not a love triangle).

CHECK OUT AN AUDIO SAMPLE FROM TEDDY HAMILTON!

BUT BEWARE – THIS SAMPLE IS NOT SAFE FOR KIDS!

THIS VIDEO WAS FOR 12 DAYS OF GIVEAWAYS FROM A FEW YEARS AGO – SO THE PRIZE IMAGE BELOW IN THE VID IS NOT CORRECT. THE REAL PRIZE IS BELOW

AUDIOBOOK IS FREE IN AUDIBLEPLUS

(1) COMMENT HERE ON THE BLOG (BELOW) AND TELL ME –

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ‘TROPE’ IN A BOOK?

MY ANSWER

I don’t know that I have a particular favorite but I like a lot of tension and angst. So I like Enemies to Lovers (or Enemies to Friends). I like books that move along as far as plot goes. And I lot a lot of mystery – but I don’t read mysteries. Not that kind of mystery. I like puzzles in books. And twists. I also *really* like when the main character (most of the times it’s the male MC) is an Outsider and ends up being three steps ahead of everyone else and pulls off a con. I really cons. But I prefer the ‘Loner Con” to the ‘Team Con” but if we have to have a team, then I like the team to all be Outsiders.

So I guess I like, angsty, twisty books with a lot of conflict between the anti-social Outsiders. 🙂 WHICH ALMOST PERFECTLY DESCRIBES TODAY’S BOOK, IN TO HER, and I swear I didn’t even mean to do that. lol

I like twisted repomantic suspense, with strong heroines and heroes. There has to be something to solve and if that mystery transpires over multiple books I’m ok with that.

I don’t have a favorite. What I do love is that when I’m reading the series and you feel so invested in the characters. Then you listen to the book and you are wow. Did that happen. Then you are waiting for the next book. While you are trying to imagine what the characters look like. The story, the world created, the mindfuck

I love books I can get lost in. Like when I have to stop reading, I’m like oh damn I just left a different world. Goodness please let me go back. Romance, mystery, some sci-fi, and thrillers. Put two or more together and I’m really worthless in real life.

Love this book and 3-2-1 both keep you hanging to the very last minute, if you’re listening to them. Also love the Rook and Ronin, Spencer, Ford and Company books and that they all have a HEA. So I think my trope must be whatever book of yours I’m reading currently is ❤️

Such a tough question for me. I have ADHD so my interest in tropes depends on the day. It would be much easier to say what I don’t prefer. Lately though it’s all been dark, deadly, multiples, and spicy enough to break out in a sweat, and sweet historical romances.

What a hard question to answer. I have a few go to tropes.
    Mafia
    Billionaire
    Enemies to lovers
    Menage
These I alternate between. I don’t like reading the same thing all the time (why I alternate) an it must have a storyline. I’ve read some just all sex. Not my thing. Don’t get me wrong I love the sex part but I need a story which is what I get from Ms. Huss which I’m thankful.

I read a lot of rom coms at any time because when can’t you use a laugh… but as long as it’s romance the trope itself doesn’t matter and it doesn’t have to be comedy. Sometimes I crave mystery or dark or drama. I just pick up whatever I’m in the mood for at the time and if I’m in a reading slump or moody mood it’s rom com to pull me out of it.

I like a lot of different styles, but yea, the one I always come back to is the “Enemies to Lovers”. The spicier the better for me lol. But I do love that tension in the beginning that later gets resolved. I have to limit myself of these books sometimes because if I start one of these book, I will NOT stop reading until the tension works out at least some… SO many sleep deprived nights! lol!

I love enemies to lovers. The fights, heated arguments, going out of their way to be mean or vindictive at first, pushing away but pulling in at the same time, I freakin love it! I love angsty, dark, protective, love triangles (MMF preferably)… I think it would be easier to list what I don’t like. Lifetime movie kind of books are not my jam. I need all the feels from frustration to desire to hate to fear to straight up fucking to darkness to love. (I may need therapy, heehee) That’s probably why the Creeping Beautiful series is my favorite set of books I’ve ever read. When I say favorite, read that as obsessed.

Others just explored the differences bet the (generally there would be either 4 or 5 guys as a group; brothers; blood brothers; etc) and each had their own personal torment with which to deal.

I don’t care what tropes are involved, but I don’t care for unimaginative cookie cutter books. I want an intriguing, original, unpredictable story with interesting, imperfect characters dealing with life’s challenges and unconventional or complex interpersonal relationships. A book should make me FEEL something…happy, sad, angry, shocked, disturbed, disgusted, horny, joyful, whatever. Bonus points if it is weird, dark, and/or twisted. I don’t even care if it ends with a HEA. Sometimes a HFN or mostly happy ending is enough for me. JA Huss always exceeds my expectations!

Honestly I do not have e a favorite troupe in a book. As.long as the author can give the characters a lot of depth and tell the story in a way that makes you feel (whether that is happy, sad, mad, passionate, frustrated or any combination thereof), it is a good story. Only a good author will take you for a voyage where they can bring you around to love (or at least understand) the character you hated, cry for the person who is the strongest or laugh with the character who was at their bottom on page 30 and by page 400, they are smiling in bliss.

I tend to read a lot of psychological thrillers, and they can either have a romance or not, it doesn’t matter. But I like the way you explained what you like, because that is what I like also, when someone is many steps ahead of the characters, and even the readers and towards the end there’s this big AHA moment when it all comes together.

I LOVE the “Why choose” genre. For example, In To Her, Joey, 3,2,1, and the Creeping Beautiful series are perfect books to demonstrate my favorite genre. Relationships are never easy, but when you add in a third (or more ;)) person, dynamics change. I enjoy reading about the characters and how the story starts, the juicy, dangerous dark middle, where some, but not all secrets are revealed, and then to finish it off with an ending no one could’ve predicted. I LOVE THAT SHIT!!

It all depends on my mood… I can go months with the enemy to lover then switch to forbidden love then over to the anti-hero, in any genre. I do have to say it is easier to say what I am not fond of, …… time travel (missed love…like the ongoing just meet up already kind ) , mafia and political/royalty(but that’s more genre) .. but then………. if it has a good twist or unexpected turn and a good underdog with a hea, i’m in! I love the wow factor…. Harem Station series, for example(just to name one), had that for me …the wow! I loved it.

I know what I don’t like and that’s a predictable storyline, with the exception of who is going to get together, weak characters’ personalities, and plots copied from other books. I like conflict between smart, strong personalities, surprising twists, and complicated storylines so have to really read, and not just skim, the book to follow. If I finish and think, I want to reread this soon so I can pick up the little nuances, that’s a great book!

Why should I read it? I want to read a book that has imagination and surprises me and makes me say, “Wow”. Is that too much to ask?!?!

I typically listen to more dark romance and romantic suspense, but I do have to balance it out with a romcom, billionaire, paranormal or sports romance, so that my mental health doesn’t suffer. I love me some morally grey, tatted up bad boys, he’s obsessed, touch her and die, why choose, etc. I’m an audiobook whore and will devour almost any romance that has a trigger warnings page. Kidnapped by a handsome pirate, Robin Hood and Maid Marian, a dangerous bad-boy Cowboy and the spitfire female ranch owner., The Silent Man with Maureen O’Hara and John Wayne. Just to name a few. And as I grew older into a young adult my reading followed suit. I loved Rosemary Rodgers, Ginny and Steve Series in the 70’s. Lots of angst and danger and a love hate thing going on. Kathleen E Woodiwiss did that in a lot of her books and I really adored her writing. First book by her I read was Shanna, angst, enemies to lovers, Wolf and the Dove, angst, enemy to lovers., A Rose in Winter, angst, enemies to lovers. So yeah that’s definitely my favorite. 😁❤🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

I don’t have a favorite trope because I listen to certain types of books for a certain mood of mine – I need both dark books and RomCom in about a 1 to 3 ratio. Teaching is very stressful so I need different escapes for different times. If I need something light and mindless, (like in TV) – I turn to sports and seek out sports themed books with a bit of humor in them or the enemies to lovers, arranged marriage, controlling boss, hometown love books, but I listen to them at 1.70 speed in the car so I don’t think about work. Amy Daws Harris Brothers series is one of my favorites because of the British characters that sound more Irish than British. The narration is phenomenal and the banter between the family will have you in stitches, but it did get a tear or two out of me and that’s hard to do. I lean heavily toward books that have strong characters – both male and female – even when the female has been kidnapped, abused in her earlier life, or has controlling family/coworkers/friends. I don’t like the rich boss trope unless it’s being used in a dark and twisted part of the plot. Just jetting off somewhere for a date or throwing money around is too Hallmark and turns me off to the story. I love the virgin trope if it’s used well – hate it brought into the story as part of the storyline and then the male immediately has sex with her and poof the trope is wasted …. there should a writing class on developing your tropes. I’m twisted and dark in my head though. Love to have a little fear, suspense, raw kinky sex, sexual attraction that builds and not the “I can’t keep my hands off you ” and then we have basic sex against the wall and call that the hottest sex we’ve ever had … boring -yawn- finger down my throat. I enjoy a good kidnapping, a chase, the forbidden, head games … lots of head games, multiple sexual partners in the relationship, mentally or physically scarred characters, the voyeurism in BDSM clubs (hate a book that puts the club aspect into a book, takes the characters there and the male character takes them immediately to a private room because he doesn’t want anyone to look at her – WTF – I want my money back). Ashley Jade’s Duet called The Devil’s Playground has a lot of dark twists, scarred characters, MF, MM, and MFM, revenge, lust, control and nail biting to get to the end. Jade just hasn’t been able to do that with any other books – It’s like she channeled her inner Huss for that Duet. I crave mafia or international kidnapping and danger, even military men going to find and protect a heroine if it’s done with dark undertones – hate when they always get there just in time and not a scratch on her, she wasn’t defiled in anyway -it’s the CLIMAX (definition) people and I really want it to take me up to the top of the tallest roller coaster hill and then drop me down and send me through cork screws and loops before the book ends. If there is a gun fight, knife to the throat kidnapping, I want it to be well thought out because I’ve read books that build up this brawny, testosterone filled character and then he uses none of that to save the damsel in distress and I feel robbed. It’s like the guy in your town who drives the big Ford F250 extended cab, KC and fog lights, extended mirrors, lift kit, running boards, and stickers to imply he hunts – and he won’t go down your dirt driveway because he doesn’t want to get dust on the truck. If you put muscles on your character, I want him to use them. If he has SEAL training, I want him to smash his feet through a window and knock a guy out with his bare hands.

I also like books that go back and forth from past to present. I know some people find them hard to follow, but I love the puzzle – in real life and in books, it’s the challenge. I don’t want to be able to see how a story will play out after listening to the first 2 chapters. Throw me some twists and turns – and the “I did not see that coming” and I’m hanging on til the last page. It’s not so much about the trope, it’s what you do with it. Take the
Return to hometown/reunion romance” – it’s always light and expected … she or he returns home because of an ailing relative, inheritance, or to get away from a failed relationship/job. The returning character tries to avoid the hometown romance, but we all know the ending. Predictable. Why can’t there be a good plot twist … puzzle to solve. Maybe the house she is left by her sister’s death leaves lots of secrets about her sister’s “real” business in this quaint little town. Couldn’t we throw in a secret sex club or a man living in the basement who she wants to evict, but he lures her into his twisted fantasy. Maybe the high school crush turns out to be part of this game and she finds out her sister was the reason she lost her high school sweetheart. So I suppose my favorite trope is much like yours Huss … I don’t have one. I just like developed stories that grab me in some weird way.

I’m a mood reader so this one is quite hard for me. I like most tropes as long as they are done well.
But I like enemies-to-lovers, Age-gap, Forbidden, morally gray hero, he falls first, forced proximity. That’s just a few I can think of. I’m sure there is more.

I have to switch around to keep reading interesting. I like first person writing with both male and female points of view. Age gap is getting too predictable now. Sex is almost always at the halfway mark in the book and the baby/marriage/ HEA progresses with some sort of anxiety inducing situation that is eventually resolved. Geez I guess I’m reading too much.

Favorite trope…..hmmmmmmm that is a great question. It turns out I do appreciate the strong take care type, even though they seem to bad ass to be caring. I appreciate the the characters who are also funny. Most recently, not trying to be a total suck up the characters in RoBro, I love the underlying funny. The suble language literally cracks me up. But I also like the quiet mysterious and well, I suppose I like most things I read.

I like them all. It also depends on the books too. I don’t choose a book because it’s an enemies to lovers or rom-com etc. That doesn’t matter to me. I want a book that is going to suck me in regardless of the trope.

I also feel that its based on the authors writing style. Each one has a style of their own….. example, rom-coms come in a wide variety. I’ve read books from authors that sucked me in and I’ve read all their books to date and then they’re are some that, in my opinion, are not at all funny and it’s a boring read.

I guess I’m strange that way. I’ll never not finish a book no matter what trope(s) it is unless……aliens. I have a terrible phobia of aliens but I like to read paranormal romance.

I’m not real tropey, but In To Her is my FAVORITE of your books. Probably the first MMF book I read and enjoyed. I do love my HEA endings, and I was so glad to see that they did, finally, get their forever. As for other tropes, frankly I don’t want to know what to expect. I don’t want to know that a book has a secret pregnancy or frenemies. I don’t read blurbs or even reviews before listening (I’m an audio listener primarily) because I really like to be surprised. Let the book take me where it goes, I guess. 🙂

Not sure I have a favorite, because my favorite is often the one I’m currently reading. I enjoy friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, secret baby, silver fox, second chance, mafia, MC club, sports, and many others. I’m not as big a fan of new adult books, because it’s hard to relate since that stage was several decades ago for me. However, I still occasionally read them. I’m also not as big of a fan of insta-love; they just don’t seem as satisfying as the ones where the protagonists have to face challenges to find their HEA ending.

Enemies to lovers I guess but I also like stories that have me clinging to the bread crumbs. For example when Ford pops into a flea market and meets a little Sasha and you just think okay will I learn more about her or never hear her name again?

Evening everyone! I am behind by a few days because of a viral cold going through the house! After reading your favorite trope description JA, I would definitely have to agree with everything you said. I know that is the easy way to comment, but it is true. I love the angst, the building of the MC characters, I like that one of the MC is not in the same “social” area/status as the other. I need the suspsense and mystery of an actual storyline for the characters and not just a wam/bam, so to speak! I don’t want the HEA to just “be”. I want them to have to work for it, to make it ‘real’ so to speak!

My favorite trope is almost any of them. I like to change things up and read/listen to a different kind of story each time, especially after coming off a series. If I had to choose it would be Friends to lovers, I guess because it is reality fantasy.

Can I just say “ditto” to what you said?? In To Her is my absolute favorite of all of your books. So I guess what you said about your favorite trope(s) and how it describes the book would be mine too. In To Her is the book that has scenes running through my head at random times. It just sticks with me.

I like a lot of tropes, I sometimes prefer paranormal/fantasy romances, I like reverse harem as well, but the thing I like best in a book is when the female character is strong and capable, I’m not sure that is a trope in itself.

Enemies to lovers!! Though my favourite thing is seeing a couple fall in love, seeing exactly why they are perfect for each other and then how they face obstacles together. And if they happen to start off as enemies and work through everything together to be a couple who can communicate and lift each other up and not give up on each other then it’s just ~perfect~

My favorite trope is the older woman/younger man and don’t see it near enough. As a disabled person, I always hope to see more characters that look like me too.

I love action thrillers and suspense. A good mafia book or an MC or gang related books with alpha males. I love a crazy unexpected ending. Especially in series. But no cliffhangers. I want the story tied up at the end. But not too tight so I can look forward to the next. But, regardless of the trope, it has to have romance tied in.

Ah, this is a tuffy. But I with you, I like a lot of tension and angst. However the conflict comes about isn’t as an important as journey. Storytelling is the key.

Definitely enemies (or friends) to lovers, dark/forbidden romance, age gap. But it all comes down to how well the story is told… I love different/unique takes, twists and turns, tension/suspense.

I don’t know that I really have a favorite, it really depends on my mood. If I had to choose I’d say enemies to lovers. The more angst the better, because then it makes the happy ending (there has to be a HEA) so much sweeter.

Sacred Trinity

THE DANGER IN THE DAMAGE

A soldier searching for redemption.
A man addicted to control.
And the woman caught between them…

Ean Shephard knows trouble when he sees it and Olive Creed is the kind of trouble that can burn his whole world down. As Collin Creed’s baby sister, she’s completely off-limits. But her quiet strength, combined with her sad vulnerability, keeps pulling him closer. Shep came to Edge Security to escape his past, but falling for Olive could ruin his second chance and the fragile peace he’s fought so hard to find.

Brose Sinclair has always played the long game. He and Olive are more than just partners inside the shadow organization they both work for, they’re lovers. His absolute authority keeps her on track and Olive likes it that way. But her sudden attraction to their target threatens everything they’ve worked for and for the first time, Brose finds himself questioning whether control is enough to keep Olive by his side.

Olive Creed has spent her life learning to play her role perfectly. She can’t afford to mess up. Not with Brose watching her every move, looking for mistakes. Mistakes she sometimes makes on purpose just to spur on his titillating punishment. But as she starts to fall for her target and her world begins to crumble beneath her feet, Olive finds herself wondering—which one of these two men would truly be there in her darkest hour?

Brose—the one who owns her mind?

Or Shep—the one who wants her heart?

The Danger in the Damaged is a battlefield of betrayal and control, where loyalty is a weapon and obsession takes no prisoners. It’s a best-friend’s-little-sister romance caught in the crossfire of dark secrets and mind games—and this time, Collin Creed isn’t the one calling the shots.

Inside the pages you’ll find…

Enemies to Lovers
Best Friend’s Sister
Power Dynamics
