Think Gone Girl meets True Detective Season One shot through humid Louisiana filters. The aesthetic is decay and beauty intertwined—Spanish moss dripping like secrets, swamp water reflecting distorted faces, antebellum architecture hiding modern horrors.

Gosh this is a hard one because I love so many different vibes depending on my mood. I love dark and sultry vibe, but also a bright, bubbly happy one at times too.
I love the slow build up, the chemistry between characters and the unexpected twist that I thought I saw coming.

Yall. I’ve been watching Yellowstone recently and thought to myself I’d love to read about a gorgeous Native American man with those long pig tail braids down the front and he’s actually a Native American God or maybe some type of shapeshifter. Or maybe not maybe he’s just total alpha male like Kocoum from Pocahontas. And he meets a damsel in distress and they fall in love. But there has to be such good plot bc I need depth with my spice. I haven’t read about any Native American bad asses and I fear I’m missing out.
I would have to say, currently my “vibe” is warm summer days in a small town. House set off the road backed up to a national forest. A town with one main street, lots of cool little shops, everyone knows everyone, but it’s a tourist town so this lends to lots of strangers swarming, and the most likely suspects when someone starts stalking the single mom who runs the florist shop. And her lifelong best guy friend who has secretly been in love with her all along insists on staying with her to keep her safe.

While I love dark visuals, and I wear a lot of black, I love colorful books and sweeping views. As a reader, I need the gorgeous cover (and the story) to grip me so much I can’t bear to leave it on the shelf. Couples in romantic clinches, one-color dominant covers that set the mood, and something significant to the setting in the background.

The one thing that they all have to have is plenty of smut and plot! And then there is my mood where I need an alpha hole protector romance, the ones where she’s escaping an abusive situation and he brings her back to life.

First this is why your a great author you see shit!. This is tough and had me really thinking about what I’m seeing when I read a book. Dark like the first Godfather movie. The cinematography was such a part of the movie. It doesn’t have to be sinister just description of deep jeweled tones. Just put that in a MC or mafia setting and I’m good to go. I always struggle with these types of questions so here’s my best answer. I love all the vibes and all the tropes. I have no specific preference in general other than changing from day to day. One day I might want a sweet country romance with some sexy cowboy and then the next I might want a thriller or a dark romance. Let’s me honest, in my real life I would not have a sappy romance with some overly sweet guy. I like them right, tough and bad, just be good to me, so I like reading it too. But sometimes I don’t want any romance at all in a book.

A Book Vibe is like snacks – it depends on the day, the mood, the weather. I’m game for a dungeon, a musty cement room with just a mattress, a toilet, a sink, and no window, holding her there against her will, breaking her so she can be owned. An old country house in the woods that’s begging for renovation from the lead male or female …. and one of them wanting to be left alone. Throw in the small town with some quirky characters, an animal or two and I’m hooked. I’m less drawn to big cityscapes, high rises. Scottish castles and country sides appeal to me, but I can rarely find a book that has that with the true bad boy or grumpy domineering attitude that I crave … some twist – forced proximity maybe.

I too am very picky when choosing to read a book. I started early to read as a child and think it was thanks to a teacher who at the end of the day at school would have us put are heads down on our chair table top while she read too us with the lights off, but sun coming through the windows. I leaned toward animal stories and used the library a lot. The first book to make me cry was Black Beauty and I still have that book. As I grew older my type of books did to of course. From Rosemary Rogers and Kathleen E. Woodiwiss books and more, romance with darkness, secrets, thrillers and very sexy stories, Vampire angst romances too and all with a hea. Then I read my first JA Huss books luckily in an Omnibus, which was the Junco series and she’s held me captive (so willingly) ever since!

It’s got to have a realistic take you know not these gorgeous people constantly doing each other but like losing weight and struggling to eat and of course get the happy moments there where they kill something and they get this splurge for a day or two survival I guess of the fittest with still keeping in touch with humanity but doing what it takes to live kind of stuff when somebody can make a book like that sexy which is kind of hard to do I would think and that’s kind of a second read for me

Great original plot, an MC who is dark, morally gray but has a code of ethics twisted thought it may be. Drama, trauma, a survivor. A story where the character finally truly finds their person/people who accept them and celebrate their uniqueness.

I think is the hardest question you have asked and it puzzled me because I didn’t have a ready answer. think it really depends on my mood that day but that sounds trite unfortunately. If I’m spicy that day -sassy – bright colors, darker more serious day will equal darker colors – maybe werewolf themed so moon cast white light with dark greys, blues and blacks – or mafia again darker tones. So I guess a mood ring is needed to figure out what to look for that day haha

Hmmm, I primarily read romance and a lot of sub-genres of romance and I have my favorite tropes.
I have eight bookshelves with two of them being dark romance, four of them are contemporary romance that are much lighter and mixed with romance-coms, then my other two are packed with historical romance pocket paperbacks.
I also love mystery & cozy mystery books, add a romance in it and it’s truly perfect 😍
