DAY 1 – 12 DAYS OF GIVEAWAYS – 2025 – HER CHAINS HER CHOICE

Welcome to my Annual 12 DAYS OF GIVEAWAYS! 

If you’re new to this – here’s how it works:

1.   Each day from December 1 through December 12 I will put up a new giveaway HERE on my website with instructions on how to enter, a detailed description of the prize, and some stuff about the book or series. Each giveaway is different and each has ONE WINNER. MY GIVEAWAYS ARE ALWAYS OPEN INTERNATIONAL 

2.   Each giveaway runs UNTIL DECEMBER 13.

3.   Winners are CHOSEN and NOTIFIED on December 14. I will be notifying winners USING THE EMAIL USED TO COMMENT ON THIS BLOG – and all winners will BE LISTED AT THE TOP OF EACH GIVEAWAY POST HERE ON MY WEBSITE on December 14.

4.   Winners have 24 hours to respond, then another winner will be chosen.

5.   ALL PRIZES WILL BE MAILED ON DECEMBER 15.  If I’m waiting on a winner to respond and they miss the December 15 mail date, that prize will be mailed when I get around to it. I live in the middle of nowhere so a trip to the post office is a “thing” for me. 🙂 So make sure you’re checking for winners on the 14th.

6.   I will send newsletters announcing giveaways on December 1, December 6, December 12, and a Winner newsletter on December 14. I NEVER send this many newsletters in a month so sorry if that feels spammy. 

7.   You can also FOLLOW MY BLOG. I will also make a blog post HERE announcing ALL WINNERS on the 14th. If you want to follow this blog there will be a form at the bottom of each post to do that. Then you get an email when I POST HERE. I don’t do that often – December is the exception because of the 12 Days and my yearly “Wrap-up” post.

MY ANSWER

I JUST MOVED! If you’re one of my regular readers you know that I had my Colorado ranch on the market for a LONG TIME and it finally sold in July 2025. I’ll tell you more about that later, but the answer to my question is… I live in IOWA NOW! The very western edge, right up against the Missouri River and Nebraska.

Never in a million years did I ever expect to move to Iowa but when I saw this house I fell in love. I adore the tiny town, I adore the scenic byway just outside my front door, I feel exceptionally lucky to live a mile away from a gorgeous state park, and I love my little house.

I don’t think it’s my final destination (though, you never know)

I plan on buying a new ranch in Wyoming in a few years. Wyoming is 100% absolutely, my SPIRIT STATE. I spent a lot of time there this past summer (I’ll fill ya’ll in on that later) and my God, no other place on Earth does it for me the way Wyoming does.

  252. I moved back to my hometown of Hannibal, Mo from Jacksonville, FL two years ago to help my dad with his healthcare issues because my mom was not understanding Dr. Visits. I got here and soon realized I didn’t have much time left him. He passed away this passed April and I’m ready to move back and seen my grandbabies again.

    I’m in Fair Oaks, California (Sacramento area). Just for a few years though. As soon as our grand finale finishes high school, my hubs and I will be headed to more rural pastures. He grew up on a ranch so it will be like coming home home for him.

    So glad your ranch sold and you are loving where you moved! I’ve driven through Wyoming a few times (my ex husbands family is is Nebraska and we drove out a few times when we were together. I recall prices being low and people being super nice.

  416. I grew up in Blacksburg,VA the home of the VT college football team. I live 7 miles from there now in Christiansburg, VA. I work 3rd shift so listen to audiobooks for 8-10 hrs nightly and i love them. Especially Julies that ive probably listened to a dozen or more times! Lol 💯
    Im surrounded by the mountains and i do love the snow when we get it. Pretty populated area with VT and Radford college near but i live on a dead-end Road that looks like I’m out in the country even though I am close to nearby towns. I wouldnt choose to live anywhere else in the world.

  497. My daddy always told me that whenever anyone asked where I wanted to live I said Montana. No one had an inkling why, except perhaps I’d heard it on tv. But I was convinced Montana would be home. So, here I sit in my snug little house in England, married to an Englishman who’s never been on a horse in his entire life. So in my 70’s and happily married I don’t see a move to Montana in my future. Perhaps my very young self was remembering living in Montana in a past life. The mind is a tricky thing but I must have enjoyed myself.

  505. One street small town in Victoria, Australia. 10 years here listening to the birds chirp in the morning and squawk at night as they fight for branch space. Tooradin, where the homes are on a decent quarter or half acre blocks mostly, and not almost touching each other, or rural acreage (above our pay grade 😂). We have all we need in one Main Street, which sees plenty of through traffic heading either to the coast or the City, but turn off that street and you can sit quietly by the water with a good coffee or even better, an ice cream, and just breathe. Our yard is a space where books can be read without noise or interruption and I’m IN for them all in 2026 and beyond.

Back on May 13th our town flooded, we made national news due to students and staff being stuck in the elementary school, and it’s still recovering. Our library sustained a lot of damage, including foundation damage. They recently were able to obtain a temporary location with a limited number of books…something is better than nothing.

  906. I live in the beautiful town of Farmville Virginia. The population is around 6,000. We are the home of the University of Longwood and the men’s college of Hampton-Sydney all founded in the late 1800’s. The only way a girl or woman can get into Hampton-Sydney is for a parent to work there in any capacity. Like a janitor, in the kitchen, maintenance, grounds keeper, office, teachers or professors, and of course their sons too. Our down town is quaint with lampposts and a small free movie theater that shows old movies from black and white and movies from the 40, 50, 60, 70, 80’s and children’s afternoon and night specials. We have lots of small boutiques and cafes and small business owned restaurants. At least 6 nice hotels for out of towners coming to visit and for graduations. We are not to far from big cities like 1 hour to Lynchburg and 1 1/2 hours to Richmond. We have a bowling alley and of course a big cinema theater. We’re not far from places to ride down the James River in kayaks and inner tubes, also just a few miles from a Zip-line fun adventure, and BNB Tee-Pee adventure living quarters. We are home to Green Front a multi-buildings of about 8 seprate stores and warehouses that people come from all over the US to buy their furniture, carpets, home decor, and outside fountains, outside furniture and outside garden decor of which many are purchased from Europe. And lucky for most of us they have a clearance warehouse that have great bargains! And one of my favorites is we have Food Trucks of all kinds that stop here on different days and places. It’s like you can have a county fair food experience any day of the week, somewhere in town at multiple places. Yummy! Thanks for a chance to win a most coveted prize from you Julie!

I live close to New Brunswick where Rutgers University is, they’re the Scarlet Knights if you’re a sports fan (I’m not really).
