Just a shitload of news

Wow – what a week. If you’re on the homepage of this blog, you can see the post below was an announcement for my annual open house at Simple Schooling, which is the subscription website I run for homeschoolers. Before I wrote fiction, I wrote non-fiction. A lot of non-fiction. Anyway, I have two huge promotions each year. In May I run a week long open house where I let anyone come on the website and sample ten of my […]

Winter Constellations

Yes, I’m bragging a little because I spent fourteen (FOURTEEN) freaking hours marketing yesterday for various promotions I had going.  Simple Schooling released two new products yesterday – a printable Microscopes unit (now sitting at #14 at CurrClick) and a new Complete Course – Winter Constellations. I made the original unit of Winter Constellations last year – as I did with all my “Classical Nature Study” units.  But I didn’t make an interactive unit on purpose so I could make […]

Productivity Check – January 2013

I was going to do a Marketing Monday this week, but I’m swamped and when I went to do it yesterday, I felt like I was rushing a subject that I really wanted to spend a lot more time on and that’s Goodreads.  It’s a major resource for authors and I don’t think that most quite know what to do with it.  I’ve used just about every feature on GR there is, I’ve run ads, had giveaways, did events. I […]

Resolutions for 2013

I hate making resolutions.  Goals, yeah, I’m on board with goals.  But resolutions never seem to make it back around to the next December. I did, however, have a pretty successful 2012 in that I published three full length novels and wrote a fourth.  I started writing Clutch on January 3, 2012 and I published all three books on October 1 (actually, it was like September 19th I think).  So yay for me. Nonetheless, I am now self-employed (with all […]

Clutch and Fledge on Amazon

This is called the mad-dash to the finish line.  The e-book edition of Clutch went live over the weekend and Fledge went live early Tuesday morning.  The first proof of the Clutch paperback arrives tomorrow and once I get over all the angst that comes with choosing a font (Garamond 12) and trim size (5.5X8.5) maybe I’ll be able to enjoy it! The only other things to report right now are the new promo graphics I made last night.  (See […]

Book Launch Prep

This week’s productivity check is going to be a little different.  You see, all three books are now off to my awesome editor, RJ Locksley for the final read-through.  And I’m not quite sure what to do with myself tonight!  Tomorrow and Sunday I will write like mad to make some progress on the fourth book (called RANGE).  I’ve neglected it for two weeks now and it needs some serious attention.  That Junco is doing all kinds of crazy things […]

Friday Productivity and a Snake

Well, holy crap!  It’s Friday again!  What did I get done this week… I did an inspection for work yesterday and attended a meeting. (so fun) I played around on Goodreads, which I consider work 😉 because it’s my author page and all. I wrote a new fake blog post for Gideon I bought a new plotting book called Story Engineering. Really great book. I’m about to read it again.  First I borrowed it from Amazon using my Prime account, […]
