I’m not going to go into too much detail about the HEA book because it’s all spoilers. But wow. I didn’t realize how much I missed these Rook and Ronin characters until I started this book. It was the most fun I’ve ever had writing. Ever. Each chapter just came pouring out. I wrote this book in one week, and I know it’s only about 23,000 words, but still. One and done, as Ford would say.
HEA takes place fifteen years after Guns when things have settled down and everyone is sorta in a rut. I really wish I could go into more detail, but if you haven’t read Rook and Ronin series then there’s no point. All of the fun will go right over your head.
If you have read Rook and Ronin series (all the way to Guns) then holy god, you need to pick this one up. You will smile the whole time. Plus, there is a HEA character in my new Mister series. 😉
How far are you willing to go to start over?
Rook Walsh is homeless, jobless, and down to her last ten bucks when opportunity knocks her in the head and delivers a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Antoine Chaput knows the minute he spies Rook in his studio that she's got The Look. The dark and desperate look he must have to land the exclusive TRAGIC media contract.
Rook is paired up with top model Ronin, and he knows exactly what to do to make her blush for Antoine's camera. Her luck changes in an instant and suddenly she's got more attention and exposure than she can handle--both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. More info →
TRAGIC is over and Rook is ready for the future--Spencer Shrike and the STURGIS contract!
It's three months of body art modeling! That means three months of Spencer Shrike's paintbrush all over her body, three months in front of Antoine's camera, and three months of twenty-four-hour filming for Spencer's Biker Channel reality show.
Wait a minute... what reality show? Maybe she should've read that STURGIS contract a little closer? 😉
Sure, Rook's bank account is overflowing, but Ronin is angry, Clare is trying to escape rehab, Antoine is a worried mess, and Elise is just trying to hold everyone together. Rook's new family is about to fall apart before she even gets the chance to enjoy it. More info →
Rook is chasing her dream—film school and a chance at a life beyond the one she ran from six months ago. But before she can become the girl she wants to be, she must deal with the girl she left behind.
Ronin is also chasing his dream—a family of his own and a life away from erotic modeling. And he too, has a past he’s trying to forget. A past that makes Rook question everything about their life together.
Lies, secrets, and shocking truths will rock the foundation Rook and Ronin have built. Can they put the past behind them and move forward together? Or is this just another too good to be true relationship that will crash and burn in the end? More info →
Ford Aston is not too picky about what he wants out of Christmas. He’s not into this holiday—like at all. He doesn’t do presents, or family dinners, or parties, or church.
He does pets. And he’s got one lined up for Christmas Eve. In fact, it’s the highlight of his day. And if he can get through drop-in visits, nosy twelve year olds, an inappropriate conversation with his best friend’s girlfriend, dinner with a family that’s not his, and a party at his mother’s house—well, he might just get home in time to enjoy himself with a stranger and make it all OK.
SLACK: A Day in the Life of Ford Aston, is a prequel to TAUT: The Ford Book, and can be read as a standalone novella. More info →
Ford Aston is known for many things. Being an emotionless, messed up bastard, a freakishly smart social outcast, and a cold, domineering master who keeps "pets" instead of girlfriends.
And after Rook broke... More info →
Spencer Shrike is a plotter. Known for his ingenious, albeit illegal, plans that keeps the Team running efficiently and out of jail, he carries this same love of order into his personal life. He’s kept his long-time main squeeze on the sidelines for years as he builds the Shrike Bikes empire.

Spencer Shrike is a man with a plan. Get in. Get out. Move on. He loves Ron the Bomb, and her safety is the only thing on his mind. But life is a tricky bastard. And conning criminals for the better part of ten years brings its own set of problems. Sure, Rook lied her way out of a sticky situation, covering for Ronin, Ford, and Spencer’s crimes in the process. But not everyone is buying her story and Spencer is desperate to figure out who’s in town setting them up for a fall. More info →
This is the COMPLETE ROOK and RONIN TRILOGY in one book.
This omnibus edition includes: Tragic, Manic, and Panic. More info →
So instead of rehashing all that stuff, I’m just gonna drop these teasers here for you. I cannot express in words how much I love this series. It was just everything to me. The first romance series I wrote and finished. It started out pretty contemporary new adult, got crazy with suspense, took a break so Ford could find true love, and then ended with a huge fucking bang in Guns. In fact, if you haven’t see the trailer for Guns, it’s one of my best. Check it out before you go.
So here you go. A few of my favorite moments with the R&R couples. If you haven’t read it and want to get lost in a world for a week or two, go. Get it. It’s just good fun, great sex, and characters you want as your BFF’s for life.
Rook and Ronin Book One – The original series has three books – Tragic, Manic, and Panic.
Ford and Ashleigh – Ford has two books: Slack, a novella that introduces him from his point of view (Ford only had one chapter in his point of view in the original R&R series and that was the epilogue of Panic). And a full-length book called Taut, which is a break from the suspense story in Tragic, Manic, and Panic. Both Ford books can be read out of order and they are both available on Audible in a bundle called FORD: Slack Taut.
Spencer and Veronica – Spencer has two books as well. Ronnie (Veronica) was introduced in Manic, and the novella for Spencer is a retelling of how they first met and why they are no longer together. It’s called Bomb. The full-length book is the last book in this series and both Ronnie and Spencer have a point of view. It picks the suspense story back up from where Panic left off and brings it to conclusion.
And don’t forget to enter the HEA giveaway. There’s a signed copy of HEA and a Shrike Bikes HEA key chain (that I made myself!) up for grabs today.

JA Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.
So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for an Audie award in 2016, and her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.
She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.
