I bet you’re wondering why my Photo of the Week is a pair of Dunkin Donut running shoes… well, it’s got a story behind it! I was in Boston for the TalkBooks Author Event this past weekend and it just so happens that my audiobook publisher author liaison lives there. So she asked me if I’d like to stay at her house instead of the hotel. My audio publisher (Podium Publishing) is kind of a boutique business. I mean they have some major huge audiobooks (The Martian is one of them) so they’re not small-time at all, they just go out of their way to make you feel important.
So we’re driving home from the airport (she picked me up! Which is a very special treat all by itself because no one ever picks me up!) and she says, “We’re recruiting an author into the Podium family and his wife really wants these donut shoes so I’m gonna go grab her some donut shoes tomorrow.”
I was like – WTF are you talking about?
Well, it turns out the Boston Marathon was yesterday, so this was Patriot’s Day weekend, which is the weekend of the marathon (apparently – I had no clue) and they have these special limited edition Boston Marathon shoes every year. This year one of the special editions was the Dunkin Donut shoe by Saucony. Which apparently is the magic combination of hometown corporations because these fuckers sold out online immediately and the only place you could get them was at the Boston Marathon Expo last Friday.
So she says she’s gotta run down to the Expo on Friday morning and get in line to get this author’s wife a pair of shoes and did I want to come?
Well, sure. When in Boston you grab some Dunkin Donuts.
So we Uber over there the next morning and wait in line to get inside right when it opens and when we get through security there’s the Dunkin Donut booth with a guy handing out tickets. You had to have a ticket to buy a pair of shoes. So she gets a ticket and I grab one too because hey, when in Boston… and we’re numbers 117 and 118. So we’re waiting in line and Dunkin people are serving us ice coffee and blueberry Munchkins and people are going crazy for these fuckin shoes. Like out-of-their-mind crazy. And we look them up on EBay and people are now selling them for like $300 a pair. So we look at each other and we’re all, “We might need these shoes!”
And then she starts getting worried that they won’t have the right size because the booth people are already saying some sizes are sold out, and it’s getting kinda stressful, and the State Police are there guarding the entry to the booth so no one gets shoes without a ticket, and pretty soon it’s almost our turn and I’m wondering if I should get TWO PAIRS of these SHOES I DO NOT NEED because there’s a two pair limit and I’m only getting one. (I didn’t get two. I got a hold of myself!)
So I am now the proud owner of the limited edition Boston Marathon Dunkin Donut shoes and they are CUTE AS FUCK! I even wore them to the TalkBooks Author Event on Saturday. I’m very happy with my purchase!
Which is why this is my photo of the week!
Today is the release of book three in the Original Sin series that I’m writing with Johnathan McClain AND it’s the audiobook release (Thank you Podium Publishing) for book two in that series, Angels Fall. So… I hope you enjoyed this little peak into my weekend and if you haven’t started the Original Sin series, YOU SHOULD! Did I mention that Johnathan is the narrator of the audiobooks? He is (under his romance pseudonym Tad Branson) and Ava Erickson is the other half of that narration dynamic duo. They are fantastic!
If you’re one of those people who like to wait until the whole series is out before you start – well, there’s only four books in this series and book four releases three weeks from today. So this is the perfect time to get started! All the links are below (along with an excerpt to read) and don’t forget to scroll all the way down to enter the giveaway!
EXCERPT FROM FLESH INTO FIRE
He leans onto the bed and eases forward. My legs open wider for him, welcome him between them as his cock—hard, and long, and ready—rests against my clit, making me want him.
If we stopped right now, if he just rested his chest on top of my breasts, became nothing more than heavy weight as he closed his eyes, relaxed, and fell asleep… I’d be content, happy, and satisfied.
And not because there’d be more chances to do this later. But because it’s him I want. Not the sex.
He leans down, his hands on either side of my head now. Bending the mattress the way spacetime bends around a sun. And when his lips reach mine, my eyes are closed.
And I fall again.
I fall far, and long, and easily. The same way I drifted towards him. And as I drift, weightless, we kiss. But I’m still connected to him. Always next to him. Because this is what it feels like to fall into someone, not away.
This is not me slipping down the mountain.
This is not me losing my footing.
This is me finding myself. In him. In us.
So when I reach my hand between my legs and place him right where he needs to be, he enters me. And all those broken, spinning pieces come together to once again create the thing we were always meant to become.
Our bodies move together. Perfectly synchronized. Like the dance of stars in space. His body is hot, and my body is hot, and the heat we create between us doesn’t burn like fire but rearranges us. Like the molecules of two metals mixing to form the strongest sword made of the very best steel.
Our lovemaking is slow. And perfect.
We reach the heights of pleasure together. As one. And it’s the kind of climax that only happens once in a lifetime. The kind of release that means more than the way it makes you feel. It tells you who you are, and who you’re with, and exactly where you fit in the grand scheme of things.
He says, “I love you, Madison.”
And I say it back. “I love you, Tyler.”
We mold ourselves into each other as we relax and grow sleepy. Our bodies back together. His arms around me. My back pressed against his chest.
Our hearts beating. Keeping time.
Becoming what we were always meant to be.
