First of all – Happy New Year to all of you! I know I’m almost a month late in my whole Happy New Year thing, but hey, that’s pretty much how I roll unless it comes to book release dates! I hope your 2017 was good. Mine was pretty exciting actually. But I’m not gonna spend a whole lot of time on the past when so many things are coming in the future.

For starters – I released the entire Turning Series in 2017. Taking Turns, Turning Back, and His Turn. Which was a whole lot of sexy to write in one year, and that was only the beginning. In between those books I also completed the Anarchy Series. I started this story line back in December 2015 with Anarchy Found, so finishing it off with Anarchy Missing and Anarchy Chained was a long time coming. After that I released the long-awaited FIVE book! Yes, little baby Five from Rook & Ronin Series! He’s also one of the Misters, so I capped my year off with a Mister Happily Ever After called, aptly, Mr & Mrs.

(Click the picture to go buy one you missed on Amazon!)

Those were all my regular books, but I also released Mr. Mysterious, Mr. Match, Taking, Turns, Turning Back, His Turn, Anarchy Missing, and Anarchy Chained on AUDIOBOOK. (Five will be releasing on Audio on January 30th, if you’re wondering about that. And Mr &  Mrs. will follow shortly after.)

In addition to that I RE-named the Dirty, Dark, and Deadly Series to THE COMPANY and RE-released it to celebrate the audiobook for the Sasha, James, and Harper story line (which released in October). It also got a new cover and the ebooks for DDD were taken down. You can still get the paperbacks, BTW. Just not the ebooks.

I hit the USA Today Bestseller’s list an additional five times with all three Turning books, a sale I did on Rook & Ronin (Surprise to me!), and Five. So… pretty fuckin’ cool year for bestseller stuff.  The total number of times I’ve been a USA Today Bestseller is now EIGHTEEN!

In addition to that I acquired a new writing partner – TV actor and writer, Johnathan McClain – who is also called Tad Branson in the audiobook world (because he’s a sexy-voice narrator), and that’s how we came to meet. He first narrated the Mr. Romantic audio, then Wasted Lust, then my publisher gave him The Company. After he did The Company he approached me about possibly turning it into a TV series, so we wrote a pilot. We did that pretty quick over the summer and pretty soon were were pitching it to people he knew over at MGM. Well, MGM signed on to be our producing partners in December, so right now we’re in the process of closing that deal and moving forward to find a buyer.

In between all that script-writing and TV Pilot Pitching, Johnathan and I also became book writing partners. We have a website called Huss/McClain and you should check it out when you have time.

I also bought a ranch, renovated the house, and built a barn for my annoying donkeys. So pretty fuckin’ crazy year for me!

Enter 2018.

This is where all the fun stuff starts (as if all that other stuff wasn’t fun, right?) 😉

I just released my first book of the year, Total Exposure, this week. This is the first of four books about Jordan’s Game (a spin-off of The Turning Series) and all the books are standalone. So you can jump in at any time. (Links below for books one and two).

Right now I’m in the process of changing the covers and updating files for ALL the Rook & Ronin books because the FIVE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF TRAGIC  is coming up in May and they all needed a fresh makeover. This includes Tragic, Manic, Panic, Slack, Ford, Bomb, Guns, Spencer, Meet Me In The Dark, Wasted Lust, and Happily Ever After.  Look for more information and the cover reveals around the first of February. Each of these books will have a brand new End Of Book Shit.

I also finished writing TWO BOOKS with Johnathan. We’re writing a four-book series called Original Sin. It’s set in Vegas and it’s sexy, and suspenseful, and funny because Mr. McClain is a super-funny writer (everyone says so) and I’m thrilled about this whole new adventure. The first one is called Sin With Me and will release on March 6th. (Pre-order linked below)

The second one is also finished, but we haven’t released the title or cover yet, so you’ll have to stay tuned to check that out. And we’re working on book three right now. In fact, as soon as I finish this blog post, I gotta get busy writing words! These books are all full length and will release three weeks apart so you’ll get the whole shebang in just three months. We wanted to make a debut splash in this new venture, so yeah, we are. 😉 Four full-length books in three months! AND, for the first time ever, I will release an audiobook with the ebook and paperback. 🙂 Fuckin’ Johnathan keeps me on top of shit. So if you’re an audio fan, good news for you!

We will have an ARC sign-up for Sin With Me very soon. Like in the next two weeks, so if you’re a reviewer and would like to get an advance copy of our first book together, make sure you follow us on one of our social sites or blogs to get that info.

In addition…

WE WILL HAVE A SIGNED BOOK ORDER FORM up around the same time. So if you’d like to get a copy of Sin With Me signed by BOTH of us, just another reason to follow!

After that, book two of Jordan’s Game Series will release. This one is called The Pleasure of Panic (Pre-order up and links above and cover reveal giveaway here – there’s still time to enter, so click over there). That will release on April 10th.

By that time Johnathan and I will be wrapping up the Original Sin Series and getting ready to release our second series over the summer. We have seven books planned for 2018, in addition to my four, so I have eleven books total scheduled for this year. Something for everyone, I assure you!

In between all that I have a trip scheduled to LA in about two weeks to see Johnathan, meet our MGM producing partners, and do my first ever photoshoot for our author pictures. Super exciting for me. After that I’m in London for a week to sign books at the RARE 18 London’s Calling Author Event, so if you’re across the pond, I hope to see you there. In April I will be at the Boston TalkBooks Event to sign, in July I will be at Colleen Hoover & The Bookworm Box’s Event, Book Bonanza, to sign in Denver, in August I will be in San Francisco (with Johnathan) for the Golden Gate Author Event to sign, and in September Johnathan and I will be at the Romancing the Coast Author Event in Surfer’s Paradise Australia to meet all the fans Down Under.

So pretty exciting year. And that’s just the stuff I can talk about. I have a pretty big announcement coming in a couple weeks, but I can’t share yet. It’s cool and might involve a trip to New York in June. Whew, as if I needed another trip! I have a feeling I will be writing a lot on the road this year.

I will have an “ALL BOOKS ORDER FORM” up in July or August. So if you want your pick of any of my books signed you will find it over the summer.

I’ll leave you with a donkey pic (because everyone loves a donkey) and another Happy New Year. I hope you have a great 2018 and I hope you stick around (or come see me at a signing!) to check out all the cool shit that’s happening.

Until then… Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you in the next book.

Muah.

About JA Huss

JA Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for an Audie award in 2016, and her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

  1. I have a fear of the unknown. The work rut I’m in is very large & I’m not happy so I would like to get out of the rut I’ve created for myself. If that means getting a new job & moving then I need to do what is necessary to accomplish that.

  2. Patti (@TheLoveJunkee)

I have a fear of walking over sewer grates -I feel like they’ll break while I’m on them. I always avoid them (even to the point of walking in the street). My friends think it’s funny but I’d like to get over it.

  3. Fear of heights and snakes. Wouldn’t mind getting over the heights fear. Snakes – just don’t want to deal with them ever.

  4. I would have to say swimming. I’m not good at it & I hate if someone touches me when I’m in water. I have to stay in shallow water or I’m gonna freak out.

  5. I have a fear of heights and also frogs/toads. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to kick the fear of heights, but hopefully one day I can get rid of the fear of frogs/toads. I used to love them as a kid, so I have no idea when or why they now terrify me.

  6. Wow, you have had a busy start to 2018! Lots of stuff to look forward to.
I started 2018 with a car crash- not recommended, by the way.
And donkey photos are always awesome. I miss my donks!

  7. I have a fear of flying! I would love to be able to conquer that but I am not sure that is in the cards!! I loved the donkey pic!! We have 2 donkeys that we love dearly!!
